Rohlat Afrin, a member of the General Command of the Women’s Protection Units, attended a public meeting in the city of Bonn, where the hall was decorated with flags of the People’s Protection Units and the Women’s Protection Units, according to the Firat News Agency (ANF).

The meeting began with a moment of silence, after which Rohlat Afrin delivered a speech explaining the new political developments resulting from the war in Rojava and Syria. She also marked International Women’s Day (March 8), saying: “This day carries deep meaning and has been linked to women’s struggle for freedom and democracy over the past hundred years. Today it has become a symbol of the unique resistance shown by Kurdish women, which has spread throughout the world. These achievements were made possible thanks to the sacrifices of our martyrs and the philosophy of leader Abdullah Ocalan.”

Afrin added: “Today, if the world has come to accept the identity of the Kurdish people and their struggle, this did not happen easily. It was achieved through great sacrifices and through relentless resistance.” She continued: “The Rojava Revolution turned into an intellectual uprising in 2011 and has achieved great accomplishments over 14 years, despite all kinds of attacks.”

Rohlat Afrin confirmed, saying: “Our main priority, especially in Afrin, SereKaniye, and Shahba, is the dignified return of our people who were forcibly displaced from their homes. In this context, our meetings with the Damascus administration and its affiliated forces are ongoing.”

She also stressed that one of their priorities is the release of detainees, stating: “In this process, the status of the Women’s Protection Units is special and cannot be discussed.”

Call to participate in Nowruz celebrations in Frankfurt

Afrin called on everyone to strongly support the Nowruz celebrations in Frankfurt, Germany, this year, saying: “This year’s Nowruz celebrations and their spirit of resistance are completely different and more meaningful than in previous years. I call on all our people to participate in Nowruz this year.”

The meeting concluded with a question-and-answer session.
