The attack took place in rural Maarrat al-Numan, where unidentified gunmen opened direct fire on the soldier, resulting in his death.

This comes just weeks after another member of the same forces, who served as a "Sharia official," was shot and killed on the road between the towns of Al-Yadudah and Al-Muzayrib in Daraa countryside, on September 24.

Areas controlled by the Syrian Interim Government are witnessing a growing wave of insecurity and disorder, marked by an increase in both criminal and sectarian-motivated attacks. These developments unfold in the continued absence of accountability and rule of law.
