Returning to their homes, Afrin displaced document looting, destruction

As part of the implementation of the January 29th Agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Syrian Interim Government, the first group of displaced people returning from Jazira region arrived in Afrin on March 10th. This group comprised approximately 400 families from the towns and cities of Shia, Mobata, and Janders.

A family from Mobata, who was within the returning convoy and declined to give their name for security reasons, reported that their home had been looted and vandalized, providing photographic and video evidence. They explained that they own two houses, one in Afrin city and the other in their village, both of which were seized by Turkish-backed mercenaries. Their home was completely looted, with electrical wiring, windows, and doors destroyed.

This is not an isolated incident. Many other homes in Afrin, occupied by settlers from Ghouta, Idlib, and other areas, remain in their possession. As for the homes they vacate, their contents are looted and vandalized.

Many displaced people from Afrin in Jazira and Kobani regions are still waiting to return to their homes and lands.
