Residents of Tel Tamer block M4 international highway in protest against deteriorating living conditions

Residents of Tel Tamer blocked the M4 international highway and several main roads connecting Tel Tamer to Serêkaniyê, Zergan, and Hasaka today, in protest against the deteriorating living conditions and public services in the region.

The protesters gathered at the city's entrances and on vital roads, raising slogans demanding improved living conditions and urgent solutions to the fuel price crisis and its impact on various aspects of daily life, particularly transportation fares and the prices of basic goods.

Participants emphasized that the recent increase in fuel prices has exacerbated the economic burdens on residents, farmers, and tradespeople.

They called on the relevant authorities to respond to their demands and take measures to alleviate the suffering of the population and improve living conditions.

These protests come amidst growing public anger due to the continuous decline in living standards and the rising cost of living, coupled with a decrease in the purchasing power of residents in the region.

Civil and popular activists had previously called for a protest in the town of Tel Tamer to demand improved economic and service conditions, and to reject the repeated increases in fuel prices that have placed additional burdens on the residents.
