The residents of Soluk, a town within Tal Abyad in Syria, occupied by Turkey and its mercenaries, voluntarily took the initiative to fill the potholes scattered across the streets, after years of missing services and maintenance work.

This initiative, shared by locals on social media, draws renewed attention to the deteriorating state of public services in the occupied Syrian areas. The residents stated that the step came out of an urgent need to improve roads and facilitate movement, amid repeated complaints about the lack of services since 2019.

Tal Abyad, Serekaniye, Jarablus, Azaz, and Afrin are among the main areas occupied by Turkey, and they continue to face ongoing complaints regarding infrastructure and public services. Observers note that individual initiatives have increasingly become a temporary substitute for addressing the daily problems faced by residents.
