The people of Sweida stressed their adherence to the principle of self-determination amid the wide participation in the online and field registration campaign launched in mid-September, where the number of signatories online exceeded 100,000.

Registration centers in towns and villages across Sweida witnessed intensive activity by volunteers who organized the collection of signatures and mobilized residents, in a step aimed at strengthening community participation and conveying the people’s voice to international bodies.

Citizen Hammoud Tahteh from the village of Tayma emphasized the commitment to independence and the protection of land and farms, affirming that the local community rejects any assault or violation and embraces the values of justice, tolerance, and loyalty, while rejecting terrorism and all forms of violence.

For his part, citizen Ahmad Fayez from the village of Al-Dour stressed the right of residents to freedom and independence, expressing frustration over the ongoing violations and the absence of international support, and urging the international community to ensure the protection of their rights, free from any control or external interference.

Meanwhile, Shaker Murshid, a former surgical assistant, called on the transitional government to recognize the independence of Sweida and the coast, to guarantee respect for the rights of local residents, and to hold accountable any parties seeking to undermine their local sovereignty.

Organizers of the campaign indicated that the next phase will involve reviewing and organizing the signatures in preparation for submitting the final results to international bodies, stressing that this initiative reflects the will of the local community to affirm their legitimate right to independence and active political participation.
