Raqqa workers call for better jobs, work conditions on Labor Day

As part of the celebrations for Labor Day, observed annually on May 1st, the Head of the Workers' Union in Raqqa, Hamoud Hassan Hamoud, emphasized the importance of improving the work environment and enhancing the professional skills of workers, with a focus on combating unemployment, which remains a major concern for them.

 Hamoud noted that there are currently around 500 to 600 workers without jobs, and efforts are underway to secure opportunities for them. He called on the relevant authorities to provide the union with major project contracts in the investment sectors, aimed at creating sustainable job opportunities and securing workers' rights through employment and social insurance.

 In his statement, Hamoud clarified that the union is ready to take on and implement major project contracts to support workers and provide suitable wages. He urged the government and relevant authorities to support the union’s efforts in combating unemployment and developing workers' competencies.

 On the other hand, worker Ammar Al-Ali expressed his appreciation for the union's efforts, praising the increase in wages and services provided to workers. He also expressed hope that working hours would be reduced in the summer months, particularly due to the high temperatures, in order to ease the burden on workers.

 Meanwhile, female worker Aisha Al-Hamad hoped for a greater improvement in the working conditions in the future, considering that a work environment that preserves the dignity of the worker and ensures a stable life is essential to fostering professional development.

 Amid these demands, the development of skills and the enhancement of workers' capabilities remain key pillars in ensuring a more stable and prosperous career future, especially in light of the economic conditions that require collaborative efforts between unions and the relevant authorities.
