The Syrian crisis, which began on March 15, 2011 with a popular movement before deviating from its course, is still without any solution on the horizon, and as a result, the humanitarian, economic, and living suffering of Syrians is increasing.

During the past years, the Syrians witnessed many developments and events, and there were many factors and reasons that led to the deepening of the Syrian crisis, including the authority’s adherence to the option of excluding all opinions and powers, in addition to the radicalization of the so-called opposition and its transformation into a tool and mercenaries in the hands of the Turkish occupation.

On the other hand, there was a different path in NE Syria, as the Democratic Autonomous Administration of NE Syria, despite the smear campaigns, turned into an area of attraction for various Syrians and the world, so the 2 conflicting parties seek to rule the country; To eliminate this administration.

The Syrian opposition figure and head of the Modernity and Democracy Party of Syria, Firas Qassas, spoke to ANHA agency, saying: “Syria witnessed popular political revolution against tyranny. When the Syrians came out demanding freedom and dignity, they sparked an important path in the course of the historical movement in Syria. The path that the Syrians ignited during the launch of their peaceful protests brought about changes and continues to do so in our lives. It laid bare and revealed the contradictions that reside in the depths of our political and social existence and demonstrated the structural complexities from which the Syrian state suffers, It then allowed conflict to be ignited between the Syrian parties and the various circumstances of the Syrian situation, in a way that produced the current reality. However, it eliminated the future of tyranny in the country and undermined the factors behind Assadism’s entrenchment in the Syrian scene.”

Firas Qassas explained: “The Syrian revolution, like the great revolutions in human history, gave the various opposing political components the opportunity to emerge and express themselves, and the birth of the revolution in NE Syria is only one of the most important contexts of the Syrian event in its revolutionary face. In fact, it is one of the most important factors of its victory, while the effects of the regime’s continuation of dominating some of the Syrian situation and the control of extremist Takfiri terrorist organizations with those agents of the Turkish occupation in northwestern Syria appear as if they are a counter-revolution and one of the most important aspects that inflame the crisis taking place in Syria and provide the reasons and conditions for its continuation for all these fourteen years.”

An intended external role to divert the movement’s path

Regarding the role of external parties in diverting this Syrian movement from its path, Qassas pointed out, “There is no doubt that the role of external parties in the Syrian movement was major in diverting it from its path, which seemed confident of achieving its revolutionary goals of freedom, dignity, and justice. However, I consider this to be naturally important, It is not possible for any event of this kind to remain independent, with its dynamics, its effects, and even its repercussions and effects, from its regional and even international surroundings. It is quite natural for the wills within Syria, both external and internal, to conflict with each other, and for the revenues of external hegemony to distort the course of the Syrian situation and hinder it as much as they can, which is what actually happened.”

He continued, "These interventions to divert the course of the movement are intentional and can only be so. The involvement of these external parties in the Syrian situation was a reflection of policies, bets, visions and ideology related to countries and governments, and it can't be a reflexive reaction or passive, unthought-of behavior on their part, as countries draw up their policies in a way that is contrary to the fact that they are knee-jerk reactions, this of course happens according to what their interests represent as governments and countries.”

Autonomous-Administration represents the best answer to the questions of the Syrian revolution

Regarding the impact of this on NE Syria, Qassas pointed out that “the experience of the Democratic Autonomous-Administration appears as the best answer to the questions of the Syrian revolution and a path towards achieving the Syrians’ goals of freedom and dignity. I say this knowing that the position of many and widespread sectors in Syria has opposed the tyrannical regime and still working for democracy, contradicting my position, this is simply because they are not aware of the depth of the political readings that the administration areas work to embody in society and among its components, and they do not know how the experience of Autonomous-Administration and its political philosophy are the only ones capable, as intellectual, value-based and political content and as an embodiment of tools, institutions and lines of action in reality, to achieve the freedom and dignity that Syrian aspires to.”

He added, "I affirm that democratic Autonomous-Administration is the project that carries the correct answers and reflects the will of the Syrian components and reflects what is going on in the consciousness of believers in the administration experience and in the collective unconscious of those who believe in a democratic Syria and reject tyranny and do not understand the democratic Autonomous-Administration project for many reasons and complications, as for the regime and Assadism on the one hand and the Takfiri and agent of the Turkish occupation, both parties constitute two sides of the same tyrannical coin, one of which is a corrupt and tyrannical political tyranny, and the other is a medieval tyranny that tries to ascribe itself to Islam, while Islam is pure, and distant from it.”

Regarding what is required to end the Syrian crisis, Qassas said, “According to our understanding in the Modernity and Democracy Party, we tend to believe that the general theoretical framework that ends the Syrian event and brings out its conclusions has been completed, and the specifications of International Resolution 2254 are what describe and define it and determine the position of international legitimacy regarding it. Accordingly, no significant change is expected to occur in the Syrian situation until the appropriate international environment is available, and consequently, responses to this availability occur in the regional and local environment, which will help move forward in implementing the aforementioned international resolution. In this case, the equations that distribute power and the centers of gravity of influence in the Syrian scene will continue to remain unchanged and remain in place.”

He continued: "Those Syrian powers that can be relied upon must reflect the will of the Syrians and prepare themselves in the next stage to engage in the best possible ways and methodologies to defend their vision of a pluralistic and democratic Syrian future, stage which may extend for many more years, must develop its tools and the forms and formulas of its alliances in order to succeed in overcoming obstacles and paving the way according to which Syria will transform into the democratic stage, which will not be and appear in an ideal manner, but rather will operate with difficulties and disappointments for a long time, that it can successfully move towards a pluralistic, democratic, decentralized future that reflects the achievement of the interests of Syrians at its highest level.”
