Qamishlo Canton people: affirms their adherence to martyr Beritan path

The people of the cities and districts of Qamishlo Canton (Qamishlo - Amuda - Tirbespiye – Çil Agha - Girke Legê- Tal Koçer - Tal Hamis - Derik) went out today, in separate marches organized by Kongra Star on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the martyrdom of the freedom fighter Beritan, which carried out a commando operation in 1992 when militants affiliated with the Kurdistan Democratic Party (PDK) tried to capture her in the Khakurk region in the legitimate defense areas.

In Qamishlo, the march organized by Kongra Star was led by dozens of women carrying a picture of the martyr Beritan with the words “Long live the resistance, down with treason” and another picture of the martyr Beritan with the words “In the path of the martyr Beritan, we fight against the treason, KDP.”

After the march stopped at the Martyr Robar Qamishlo roundabout, Shiraz Hamo, member of the Kongra Star, recalled all the male and female freedom fighters who were martyred while defending the occupiers and their accomplices.

Hamo pointed out that the Kurdistan Democratic Party is continuing its approach of treason, and continued, "The Kurdistan Democratic Party is still continuing its approach of treason through collusion with the Turkish occupation state in the attacks on the People Defense Forces and the arrest of patriotic figures.

Amuda

In the same context, a march was launched in which dozens of residents of the Amuda district of Qamishlo Canton participated, in front of the women’s roundabout in the Amuda center.

The march participants carried pictures of the leader Ocalan and the flags of Kongra Star, along with a banner bearing the slogan “Long live the resistance...Down with treason,” and pictures of the martyr Beritan and the martyrs of the women’s liberation movement.

The administrator at Kongra Star, Noura Hussein, gave a speech in which she said: “The martyr was known for her intelligence, activity, and revolutionary spirit during her studies, and while she joined the ranks of the women’s liberation movement, she fought against treason and slavery, so she was a volcano in their face and the face of the authoritarian male mentality.”

Regarding the role of the martyr Beritan in strengthening women’s self-defense, Noura continued, “The martyr Beritan, through her operation, established the approach of ‘No to betrayal, no to surrender’, and with her testimony, she strengthened the women’s self-defense system, so that women now have their own army.”

Tirbespiyê

As for the march in the Tirbespiyê district, the participants chanted slogans saluting the heroic resistance of the martyr Beritan and denouncing the approach of treason, “Death to traitors.” They raised a banner that read, “In the footsteps of the martyr Beritan, we fight against the treacherous approach of the KDP.”

Asiya Jumaa, member of Kongra Star in the Tirbespiyê district, explained, “The traitors have always worked hard to attack the will of the Kurdish people, but our will is stronger than all their policies and attacks, and the martyr Beritan charted this path for us.”

Çil Agha

In the Çil Agha district, hundreds of district residents and representatives of political parties and self-administration institutions went out in a march to remember the martyr Beritan as well.

Then, Nazha Youssef, member of Kongra Star in the Çil Agha district, gave a speech in which she explained that the victories achieved and the gains achieved during the revolution in NE Syria are the result of the sacrifices and heroism of the martyrs.

She stressed, "In loyalty to the struggle of our heroes and martyrs, we pledge to continue the struggle until their goals of freedom and victory are achieved."

Girke Legê

Ghaliya Salmo, administrator at Kongra Star in Girke Legê, gave a speech in which she explained that “the struggle of the Guerrilla and women has thwarted the hostile policies being hatched against the people, and the martyr Beritan is a symbol of these sacrifices in order to achieve a free and dignified life.”

She stressed the need to escalate the struggle against the approach of treason and traitors

Tal Koçer

Member of Kongra Star in Tal Koçer, Fadia Qadri, gave a speech praising the heroic resistance shown by the martyr Beritan in front of enemies and traitors, and she stressed, “The heroism of the martyr and her operation was a message to all women and peoples, victory will be achieved.” She stressed the necessity of following the path of the martyr who embodied the icon of victory and freedom in her personality.

In turn, Amal Al-Jaloud, a member of the Women’s Committee of Tal Kochar District Council, said: “As Arab women, we have taken the approach and struggle of the martyr Beritan as our path in resistance and struggle against the authoritarian patriarchal mentality.”

Tal Hamis

The march began by chanting slogans denouncing treason and traitors, "Death to traitors."

The administrator at Kongra Star in the Tal Hamis district, Hala al-Mukhlaf, gave a speech in which she drew attention to the role of the martyr Beritan in achieving victory for all women and not for the Kurdish women, and stated, “Martyr Beritan is a model for us as women to emulate because she did not submit to traitors.”

The participants chanted slogans commemorating the resistance of the martyr Beritan, “Biritan is the symbol of freedom,” and “Biritan is the foundation of the struggle.”

Derik

In the city of Derik, hundreds of women and people of Derik participated in the march that started from Freedom Square in the center of the city, raising Kongra Star flags, pictures of the leader Ocalan, and pictures of the martyr Beritan, amidst chanting slogans: “Long live the resistance,” “The martyrs are alive and do not die,” and “ Down with treason."

Member of the Martyrs’ Families Council in Derik, the mother of the martyr Hevrin Khalaf, Souad Mustafa, gave a speech in which she recalled all the martyrs of freedom in the person of the martyr Beritan, and said: “Biritan did not bow to injustice, and she stood up to it, until she preferred to throw herself from the top of the mountain rather than to be in the hands of traitors.”

She pledged to all the martyrs and the leader Abdullah Ocalan to follow their path until the entire land of Kurdistan is liberated and the physical freedom of the leader is achieved.
