The Democratic Union Party expressed its deep concern over the continuous violations against the residents of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, and the irresponsible practices and brutal methods deliberately employed by factions affiliated with the interim government, in addition to the tightening of the siege imposed on the two neighborhoods, amidst harsh humanitarian conditions.

A statement issued by the Democratic Union Party today stated the following:

The Democratic Union Party is following with great concern the continuous violations against our people in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, and the irresponsible practices and brutal methods deliberately employed by factions affiliated with the interim government, in addition to the tightening of the siege imposed on the residents of these two areas, amidst harsh humanitarian conditions, and in the context of the current situation in the region.

The systematic policies of killing and displacement pursued by these factions reflect the continued targeting and demographic manipulation of the Kurdish people, which has become openly evident through the systematic focus on Kurdish-majority areas, the imposition of divisive policies, and the continued entrenchment of sectarianism, in blatant violation of fundamental human rights.

This reality also constitutes clear evidence of the dangerous consequences of the interim government's policies of silence and its failure to hold those responsible for these violations accountable, amidst the near-total absence of humanitarian and human rights organizations fulfilling their duties. We strongly condemn and denounce the interim government's disregard for humanitarian, ethical, and legal standards, and its adoption of an extremist and irresponsible mentality in the areas under the control of its affiliated factions.

Our party affirms that the continued and intensified siege imposed by the interim government directly contributes to the exacerbation of humanitarian crises, particularly given the severe shortages of fuel, food, and basic necessities.

This portends a genuine humanitarian catastrophe, especially for vulnerable groups such as children, women, and the elderly. Furthermore, these factions' exploitation of the harsh living conditions has led to an increase in daily killings, looting, and other violations, in the complete absence of the rule of law and accountability for perpetrators. Therefore, we emphasize the necessity for all human rights, legal, and humanitarian organizations to assume their moral and legal responsibilities regarding the grave violations committed against our people in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods.

We condemn the continued failure of the interim government to lift the siege imposed on these neighborhoods, and we demand immediate intervention by international human rights organizations to ensure the protection of civilians, secure stability, and uphold the values of justice and democracy.

At the same time, we affirm that dialogue and its continuation remain the primary option and the best solution for implementing the March 10th agreement, adhering to the provisions of the April 1st agreement, and preventing anyone from dragging Syria and the region into dangerous and unpredictable consequences that serve agendas of chaos and escalation, at the expense of the security and stability of the Syrian people in all their components.
