PYD represents Syria at Socialist Youth Conference in Morocco

The conference of the Democratic Socialist Youth Union opened yesterday in Rabat, the capital of Morocco, with representatives from 16 countries participating. The event focused on exchanging experiences and strengthening solidarity in the face of growing regional challenges.

The PYD delegation representing Syria included Suleiman Arab, Co-chair of the Public Relations Office, and Shiyar Khlo and Dilivan Rashid, Co-chairs of the Youth Council. During the event, the delegation held extensive discussions with participants about the role of youth in building democratic societies and promoting international solidarity.

Suleiman Arab told ANHA agency that during the conference, they discussed Syria’s historical and civilizational significance, highlighting its unique cultural richness as home to Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs, Armenians, Assyrians, Turkmen, and Circassians, who have coexisted for centuries and contributed to building the Syrian state on civilizational foundations.

Arab also emphasized that the PYD reiterated its commitment to the principles of international socialism and its efforts to present a new model of governance and political life in Syria. He noted the ongoing struggle against ISIS mercenaries and Turkish-backed mercenaries through organizing society based on the philosophy of democratic nationhood.

During the conference, the PYD officially joined the Socialist Youth Union. Elections are expected to be held soon to form the union’s general secretariat, in which the PYD will play a role.

In conclusion, Suleiman Arab pointed out that the conference is taking place at a critical moment for the region, noting that the peace and democratic society initiative proposed by Leader Abdullah Ocalan represents a historic opportunity to build the project of the democratic nation and strengthen coexistence and fraternity among peoples.
