The co-chair of the Democratic Union Party, Asiya Abdullah, joined the International Socialist Conference in its 27th session, whose activities were organized in the Spanish capital, Madrid, in addition to the party’s representative in the Balkans, Ibrahim Muslim. Which started on February 23 and will continue until the end of the day.

Ibrahim Muslim delivered a speech on behalf of the Democratic Union Party during the activities of the International Socialist Conference, in which he said:

Presidency of the Socialist International

Secretariat of International Socialism

Respected members of the conference office

"I am pleased to be with you to address you on behalf of the “Democratic Union Party” from Syria, which has become the scene of a struggle between global and regional hegemonic powers over a period of twelve years, where hundreds of thousands have been killed and wounded, millions of migrants and displaced from their homes, and the infrastructure and necessities of life have been completely destroyed. While we try in the midst of this great chaos to adhere to the principles of international socialism that we believe in."

"In the atmosphere of the Cold War that took place between the two poles that controlled the fate of the world, the international socialist system was established with the aim of enhancing the chances of peace and searching for ways of dialogue instead of threatening war, violence and an arms race. The European Union that we see today is nothing but an achievement that became a reality as a result of those efforts and principles, just as international socialism played a major role in educating societies by spreading the principles of human rights and peoples’ rights and mediating intra-conflicts.

As the world transformed from a bipolar world to a unipolar world, this cast a shadow on the hoped-for role of international socialism, as its role was supposed to expand by adhering to its just principles calling for democracy and equality, and even leading peoples and societies towards peace by resolving their disputes through dialogue instead of wars.

We see that the intensity of the conflict has escalated instead of working to consolidate and strengthen the principles and rights of peoples and communities, which means that peoples and communities now need someone in order to guide them to the right means and paths so that they do not become prey to Western or Eastern capitalism.

We, the Democratic Union Party, a Syrian party, aim to resolve the Syrian crisis in accordance with International Resolution 2254 and achieve Syria’s democratic, non-sectarian decentralization in which all its issues are resolved, foremost of which is finding a just and constitutional solution to the Kurdish issue in Syria, because we believe that resolving this issue is sufficient to consolidate the principles of democracy and human rights in Syria.

We were managed to liberate our regions from ISIS terrorists who posed a threat to world peace. Then we established democratic Autonomous Administration with the blood of our martyrs, the sons of the Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs, and other components of the region. As a party, we made every effort to change the old mentalities that were the cause of the disaster that befell the Syrian people, and we convinced our components in NE Syria to rely on their own capabilities.

The Autonomous Administration is developing a consensual social contract that meets the aspirations of all Syrians.

What I want to say is that we represent the values of international socialism and we work to ensure that its principles are also spread in the Middle East, and this is what makes us a target for forces hostile to democracy, peoples’ rights, and human rights, such as Turkey which is the one that brags about destroying the infrastructure of hospitals, bakeries, and power and water stations under the sight of the world, while we did not even see a statement of condemnation from any party, including the Socialist International and its members.

The Democratic Union Party is one of the members of the International Socialist Congress (Socialist International), which is an international political organization whose membership includes a group of political parties with a social democratic, socialist, or labor orientation. The organization includes in its membership 162 organizations and political parties from the five continents.
