Dozens of residents in al-Duwaira village, in al-Lajat area of rural Daraa, held a protest today calling for the provision of drinking water and improved basic services amid a worsening water shortage and a near-total water outage that has lasted for months.

The protesters said the failure of the village’s only two wells has forced around 150 families to purchase water from tankers at high prices, while no action has been taken to repair them.

Participants raised banners calling for the provision of water, electricity, and education services, urging relevant authorities and humanitarian organizations to intervene urgently to address the crisis and improve living conditions in the village.
