The speeches during the mass rally in the city of Qamishlo renewed the pledge to continue the struggle against all internal and external attacks, and stressed that solidarity and faith in the democratic project is the guarantee of the freedom of the region.

QAMISHLO

Today, mass crowds took part in a major rally in the city of Qamishlo, denouncing the Turkish occupation attacks on NE Syria, and emphasizing the preservation of the achievements of the peoples and the revolution, this coincides with the tenth anniversary of the declaration of AANES, on January 21, 2014.

The rally was organized by DAA in Jazera Canton, under the slogan “In the spirit of the revolutionary people’s war, we will defeat the occupation and protect our revolution,”

It started in front of the Osman Sabri roundabout, with the participation of the people of the cities of Qamishlo, Derik, and Hasaka, and the districts of (Girkê Legê, Çil Agha, and Tal Kochar), Tirbetspiye, Tel Hamis, Darbasiyah, Tal Tamr, Tel Brak and Al-Shaddadi), and toured the main street in the western neighborhood all the way to the March 12 Martyrs Stadium.

The participants carried pictures of their martyred sons. They also raised the flags of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the North and East Syria( AANES) and pictures of the crimes of the Turkish occupation army against the region, which included targeting citizens, their homes, and service and vital facilities.

After the huge crowds arrived at the March 12 Martyrs Stadium, they observed a minute of silence in honor of the souls of the martyrs.

Then the co-chair of the Martyrs' Families Council, Shiro Sharro, congratulated all the components on the tenth anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Autonomous Administration. He said: "The project of the democratic nation represented by AANES has been subjected, since the beginning of its establishment, to many internal and external attacks to break the will of the people of NE Syria, but its steadfastness and the solidarity of the components was the ideal response to all attacks."

The Co-chair of the Legislative Council in Jazera Canton, Hikmat Habib, praised the unity of the peoples, and said: “Thanks to the unity of the components, the sacrifices of the peoples, and their belief in the democratic project, we were able to protect our gains and form our administration.”

Habib stated that they will continue the struggle until a political solution is found for all Syrians that guarantees the rights of all components and builds a democratic, decentralized Syria.

Habib concluded his speech by repeating the slogan, “Arabs, Kurds, and Syriacs forward together.”

While chanting the slogan “Women, Life, Freedom,” Hanifa Muhammad the member of the Women’s Committee in Qamishlo Council, gave a speech on behalf of the women’s organizations and movement in Jazera canton. “The achievements and victories of women, society and revolution are in danger due to the policies of the nation-state and enemies of democracy around the world,” she said.

Hanifa stressed that: “Protecting achievements is a duty that falls on women to preserve the legacy of female martyrs.”
