The Kurdish Progressive Democratic Party in Syria today marked the sixth anniversary of the passing of its secretary, Abdul Hamid Darwish, during a ceremony held at Al-Rawabi Hall in Qamishlo. The event was attended by political and social figures, representatives of various parties, civil institutions, and dignitaries from Arab and Kurdish tribes.

The ceremony began with a minute of silence in tribute to the souls of the martyrs, followed by a speech delivered by Anas Abdi, a member of the party’s political bureau. He affirmed the party’s adherence to Abdul Hamid’s path of dialogue, moderation, Kurdish and Syrian unity, and the pursuit of building a democratic, pluralistic homeland that guarantees the rights of all components without discrimination.

Gabriel Moshe Gawrieh, representative of the Assyrian Democratic Organization, emphasized the organization’s commitment to strengthening relations with the Kurdish Progressive Democratic Party and all national forces to build a decentralized democratic homeland based on the unity of peoples and equal citizenship for Arabs, Kurds, Syriacs, Assyrians, Armenians, and others.

For his part, Suleiman Arab, co-chair of the Public Relations Office of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), stated that Abdul Hamid Darwish left behind a lasting legacy of struggle and thought, and that his dreams and aspirations still live on in the streets today. He stressed that unity with Syria must be founded on a decentralized system that preserves rights and safeguards independence.

The event concluded with the Kurdish Progressive Democratic Party in Syria renewing its pledge to continue Abdul Hamid Darwish’s path, to strengthen dialogue among the different components, and to remain loyal to his national and humanitarian legacy.
