HASAKAH

Dozens of Hasakah residents, along with tribal and government delegations, visited the condolence tent for martyr Sipan Hazni today. The tent was set up in Marjareh village, west of Hasakah, following his martyrdom after he was abducted by an armed group and taken to a village in the countryside of Serekaniye.

The condolence ceremony began with a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs, followed by remarks from Abdulghani Oso, a member of the general leadership of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), who said that there are parties that do not want the integration process to reach its conclusion.

He said that the events taking place in the region, including the assassination of Sipan Hazni, are part of plans by the Turkish state and parties linked to it within the transitional government.

Oso linked Sipan’s martyrdom to these alleged plans, citing the manner in which he was executed. He stressed that the crime had nothing to do with a tribal or societal background, adding that the events in Kobani are connected to the developments taking place across the region.

Oso also stressed that the issue of the Kurdish language remains at the forefront of the Kurdish people’s demands in the region and called for its recognition as an official language.

For his part, Sheikh Akram al-Mahshoush, adviser to the Jabbour tribe who headed the tribal delegation visiting the condolence tent, said that the crime “does not represent the tribes of the region or their customs and traditions.”

He called for those responsible to be held accountable as soon as possible, adding that failure to hold those responsible accountable could hinder the integration process.

Meanwhile, a government delegation including Hasakah Deputy Governor Ahmad al-Hilali and Deputy Commander of the Internal Security Forces in Hasakah Province Siamand Afrin visited the home of martyr Sipan Hazni. The delegation affirmed that those responsible for the crime would be held accountable under the law and stressed the need to preserve civil peace.
