In a statement issued today, the committee said, “Hundreds of thousands of people in Rojava take to the streets every day to demand their rights,” expressing the KNK’s support for “these legitimate activities.”

The KNK recalled that education in one’s mother tongue is a universal and irreversible right, calling on the Syrian transitional government to immediately stop its anti-democratic positions and attacks against mother-tongue education and to recognize this natural and legitimate right.

The statement also called on Kurds in the four parts of Kurdistan, members of the Kurdish diaspora, and international and humanitarian organizations to support the cause and struggle of the people of Rojava.

The statement continued, “The right to education in one’s mother tongue is a right that cannot be reversed, and the people of Rojava will continue their struggle until this demand is successfully achieved.”.

At the end of the statement, the committee called on the Syrian transitional government to legally recognize education in the mother tongue.
