Politicians and intellectuals in NE Syria warned of the risks of the Turkish rapprochement with the Damascus government to the Syrians, stressing the necessity of finding solutions that guarantee political representation for all Syrian components.

The Syrian Democratic Council SDC met with an elite group of intellectuals at the National Library in the city of Raqqa to discuss the current challenges and explore future prospects.

The meeting addressed several main topics, including the current situation in Syria,  the reasons for the continuation of the crisis for more than 13 years, and the impact of external interventions on the political solution.

Members of the SDC presented the council’s vision for the country’s future, stressing the importance of Syrian-Syrian dialogue with various forces inside and outside the country.

The attendees discussed the issue of Syrian refugees, especially in light of the recent attacks in Turkey. They stressed their refusal to exploit the refugee issue as a political pressure card, highlighting that the regions of NE Syria are open to all Syrians.

The participants also touched on the repercussions of the possible rapprochement between Turkey and the authority in Damascus, warning of its negative impacts on the Syrian people.

The attendees stressed the importance of continuing efforts to reach lasting solutions to the Syrian crisis, ensuring a stable democratic future for the country.

They called for intensifying cooperation and joint work between the various Syrian parties to end the current crisis and achieve the aspirations of the Syrians.
