Following the Turkish Parliament's ratification of the framework law on August 10, its signing by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday, and the formation of a body tasked with implementing the law, demands are growing for the release of Abdullah Ocalan.

Abdullah Ocalan launched his call for peace and a democratic society on February 27, 2015, followed by steps including the dissolution of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and a symbolic burning of weapons.

In contrast, the Turkish Parliament passed the 12-article framework law, but none of its articles mention Abdullah Ocalan's role in this process. The absence of a clause defining and legally recognizing the role of leader Abdullah Ocalan has drawn criticism in Kurdish political and social circles.

Saud Maish, a member of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), stated that the peace process and the establishment of a democratic society require Abdullah Ocalan to enjoy physical freedom.

Similarly, Mohammed Khalaf, also a member of the PYD, emphasized that the continuation of the peace process and the establishment of a democratic society necessitate the presence and direct participation of Abdullah Ocalan, adding, "This process cannot proceed as required without him."

He stressed that accelerating this process requires securing Abdullah Ocalan's physical freedom.
