Educational and administrative staff in the Qamishlo region began their administrative duties on August 16th, in accordance with instructions issued by the Hasakah Education Directorate, in preparation for the schools opening to students on September 6th.

Azad Hussein, Director of the Qamishlo Educational Complex, stated that teachers and administrators have commenced their administrative duties, working to prepare and clean the schools, arrange classrooms and facilities, and register students, all in anticipation of the start of the 2026/2027 academic year. Hussein explained that schools will open their doors to students on September 6th, noting that the current phase focuses on completing all the necessary administrative and educational preparations for the opening of schools and ensuring their readiness to receive students at the start of the academic year.

Teacher training begins

As part of the preparations for the new academic year, Hussein explained that teacher training began in Qamishlo on July 25th and includes various grade levels and specializations.

He indicated that the training aims to familiarize teachers with the most important points and methods that will help them perform their duties in the classroom more effectively and develop their skills in line with modern training methods. He emphasized the need to move away from outdated training methods and keep pace with modern approaches in the educational process.

He added that the teacher training program will continue until September 1st, so that the teaching staff will be better prepared as the start of the school year approaches. Committees for Supervision, Selection, and Distribution of Teaching Staff

Regarding the mechanism for distributing teaching staff, the director of the educational complex in Qamishlo indicated the formation of a committee called the "Supervision and Guidance Committee," along with several other committees, to organize the process of selecting and distributing professors and teachers according to the required conditions and standards.

He explained that the staff distribution process takes into account the geographical location of teachers and the needs of schools, ensuring the necessary number of teaching staff for each school, whether within the city of Qamishli or in its surrounding villages and areas.

As for village teachers, Hussein indicated that they will remain in their areas and villages, according to the available conditions and the schools' need for teachers, in order to cover the needs of both village and city schools and ensure the necessary teaching staff are available at the start of the academic year.

15 schools still out of service

Regarding the most prominent difficulties facing the educational complex in the city of Qamishli, Hussein explained that the existence of 15 schools that are still out of service constitutes one of the most significant challenges to preparing for the new academic year. He explained that these schools are still housing displaced people from Ras al-Ayn and Shahba, which prevents them from being used to receive students and affects the educational complex's ability to utilize all the school buildings in the city.

Hussein confirmed that there is coordination between the Qamishlo District Directorate, the Governorate, and the Hasakah Education Directorate to address this issue and work on vacating the schools and returning them to educational service, allowing them to be equipped and ready to receive students at the start of the new academic year.

Hussein pointed out that the number of teachers in the region is large, especially after the integration phase, emphasizing that the available teaching staff is sufficient to cover the needs of the schools in the villages and the city. In parallel, work continues on preparing schools, arranging classrooms and facilities, completing registration processes, and training teaching staff. Efforts are also underway to address the situation of schools that remain out of service, all with the aim of ensuring a suitable learning environment for students at the start of the academic year.

In closing, Azad Hussein, Director of the Qamishlo Educational Complex, extended his congratulations to the students and their families, as well as to all teachers and professors, on the occasion of the new academic year, wishing them a successful year and a smooth educational process.
