Prior to the elections, the administration of US President Joe Biden seeks to put pressure on Saudi Arabia and Israel, with a view to achieving normalization between the two countries. However, there are significant obstacles to that. Riyadh has its terms, which Israel cannot agree to, and which observers call it the most extreme government in Israel's history.

In this regard, Dr. Ayman al-Rajab, professor of political science at al-Quds University, said, “The United States is trying to offer any gift to Israel before the elections are held. The Democrats want to complete Trump’s career, and thus offer anything,” noting that “there is great pressure exerted on Saudi Arabia to reach a normalization agreement with the Israeli occupation, even in light of the war on Gaza.”

Al-Rajab cited the words of US National Security Advisor Jack Sullivan, “If Riyadh wants to sign a joint defense agreement with us, it must first normalize relations with Tel Aviv.”

The political research pointed out that "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has a clear position regarding normalization, especially since it is the owner of the Arab Peace Initiative, which includes not going to any normalization with Israel without clear political paths leading to the establishment of the Palestinian state."

The researcher pointed out that the Kingdom made great concessions and flexibility with this position. Because it realizes that there is no one within the Israeli government who believes in peace with the Palestinians, and therefore all efforts made to reach an agreement will fail.

The researcher believes that Saudi Arabia will refuse to go to any normalization process without a clear vision that any upcoming negotiations or paths will lead to the establishment of a Palestinian state, pointing out that Washington will fail to achieve normalization, because there is an extreme right that does not believe in peace with the Palestinians and controls the State of Israel.

The researcher stressed that things will not be easy in the foreseeable future, and therefore Washington will fail in this effort and the Democrats will go and the Republicans will come. This will not lead to normalization between the Kingdom and Israel, because things will seem embarrassing for the Kingdom if it goes to normalization without political paths that lead to the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Dr. Ayman al-Rajab believes that if the normalization process takes place, this “means, at the very least, the start of a new peace process based on the two-state solution approved by the Israeli government, and this will lead to calm in the region in general, because in the absence of a solution, the hate will increase in the region.” This is what is happening at the present time between the Palestinian people and the Israeli people, and the matter has even expanded beyond that.”

Regarding the benefits that Saudi Arabia and Israel will gain from normalization, the professor of political research at al-Quds University points out that “the Kingdom’s approval of normalization will make Riyadh obtain a joint defense agreement with the United States, and the Kingdom will be given more weapons with Israel’s approval, and the matter will also lead to improving the Kingdom’s economy.” More, especially in the city of Neom, whose extensions will extend into the Palestinian territories.”

However, Dr. Ayman al-Rajab, professor of political research at al-Quds University, considered that “Tel Aviv is the biggest beneficiary, as Israel will become part of the region, will be recognized by all its countries, and will flourish greatly economically, as its markets will be open to Arab markets, and its political presence will develop greatly in the region."
