Plans to rehabilitate archaeological sites in Afrin

A delegation from the Ministry of Culture and relevant archaeological and cultural authorities in the transitional government discussed today plans to rehabilitate several archaeological and cultural sites in the Afrin area, foremost among them the Ain Dara Temple, with the aim of preserving their historical and archaeological value and preparing them to receive visitors.

Deputy Culture Minister Saad Naassan, Afrin District official Khairou Al-Dawoud, Director of Antiquities and Museums in Aleppo Munir Al-Qasqas, the Director of the Afrin Antiquities Office Batal Khalil, and the accompanying delegation toured the ancient Ain Dara Temple to assess the site’s condition and discuss ways to rehabilitate and prepare it to receive tourists while preserving its historical and archaeological value.

Following the tour, a meeting was held in the presence of several members of the People’s Assembly to discuss plans to rehabilitate the Roman Theater and the Nabi Huri archaeological site, along with several other archaeological sites in the area.

The meeting also discussed the possibility of reopening cultural centers in Afrin and activating their role, contributing to revitalizing the cultural scene and strengthening cultural presence in the area.
