Peoples' Democratic Assembly approves Social Contract Court Law

In implementation of the social contract ratified by the Peoples’ Democratic Council on December 12, 2023, the Council ratified the Social Contract Court Law, which consists of six chapters.

The session, which was held in the meeting room of the Democratic Autonomous Administration building in Raqqa, was attended by the presidential body of the Democratic Peoples’ Council, the Social Justice Councils, the Rights and Justice Commission, the office of the Expanded Committee for Drafting the Social Contract, and the Democratic Peoples’ Councils in the seven cantons.

 The session began with a minute of silence in reverence for the souls of the martyrs, followed by the reading of the draft law on the Social Contract Court by the Deputy co-chairmanship of the Peoples’ Democratic Council, Yasser Al-Sulaiman. The law included six chapters with 11 articles, including the purpose of this court, its specializations, provisions, decisions, membership conditions, work principles, and the court’s structure.

All articles were approved after being discussed by the audience and members of the Bureau, and voting on them one article at a time, after which all articles of the law were approved and it became effective.

After completing the approval of the law, the General Council approved several letters submitted by the Executive Council, which stipulate the appointment of Ahmed Sheikho as co-chair of the General Oversight Committee in the Autonomous Administration, Nabil Jawish as co-chair of the Social Justice Council in the Democratic Autonomous Administration, and the appointment of Tarfa Ahmed Al-Othman as deputy to the Council.
