People of al-Hol : "We headed to Tishrin Dam under slogan of 'Living with Dignity'"

 For the people of the region, Tishrin Dam is more than just a hydroelectric facility—it has become a symbol of survival. Since Turkish forces began targeting it approximately three months ago, communities across northern and eastern Syria have recognized that the battle for Tishrin is not just about water and electricity but a fight for existence itself.

 In response, since January 8, residents have been staging continuous protests at the dam to protect it from Turkish attacks and their allied forces. Despite facing repeated drone strikes that have resulted in the deaths of over 20 people and injuries to more than 200 others, they remain resolute.

 A Symbol of Regional Stability

 Abdullah Al-Ali, a resident of Al-Hol in the Jazira Canton, described Tishrin Dam as "the dam of resistance and resilience," stressing its strategic importance both economically and geographically.

 "Turkey and its allied mercenaries are determined to seize control of the dam, but the resistance of the people in NE Syria—through ongoing protests—continues to thwart these efforts," Al-Ali stated.

 He also warned that escalating Turkish attacks on the dam pose severe risks, cautioning that damage to the structure could trigger an environmental disaster. If the dam could collapse.

 Ahmed Al-Khalaf, another resident of Al-Hol, pointed out that Syrians have endured decades of oppression under the Assad regime. However, after reclaiming their freedom and dignity through the ideology of leader Abdullah Ocalan, they now face renewed aggression from Turkey, which he described as an attempt to fulfill its expansionist ambitions.

 "The repeated attacks on Tishrin Dam are part of a broader Turkish plan to occupy NE Syria," Al-Khalaf asserted. "For us, this dam is a symbol of resistance and perseverance, which is why we gather there every day to defend it."

 He added that these protests reflect the revolutionary spirit of the people, who categorically reject any form of occupation. Concluding his remarks, Al-Khalaf stated: "We march to Tishrin Dam under the banner of 'Living with Dignity'—or dying in its pursuit."
