PDK-S: Turkey seeks to hinder March 10 agreement

The Political Bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party – Syria issued a statement condemning the criminal attacks on the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, and pointed out that the only beneficiary of this attack is the Turkish state, holding the supporting parties fully responsible for the crimes committed against civilians. The statement read as follows:

"We condemn in the strongest terms the criminal attack launched by the Al-Amshat and Al-Hamzat gangs on the Sheikh Maqsoud and Al-Ashrafieh neighborhoods, in addition to the attacks on the Deir Hafer front, and the accompanying massacres against unarmed civilians and indiscriminate shelling targeting innocent residents, in a blatant violation of all human values, international laws, and norms.

This dangerous escalation comes at a highly sensitive time, as the Syrian arena is witnessing ongoing negotiations and dialogues between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the transitional government, in a serious effort to de-escalate tensions and pave the way for political solutions that serve the future and stability of Syria.  Therefore, these attacks cannot be separated from attempts to obstruct the dialogue process and sabotage efforts aimed at de-escalation and building trust.

The only party that benefits from this attack is the Turkish state, which, through its proxies and mercenaries, seeks to hinder the implementation of the March 10th agreement and obstruct any genuine steps towards a comprehensive political solution that leads to a new, democratic, and secure Syria for all its people.

We hold those who support these gangs fully responsible for the crimes committed against civilians, and we call upon the international community and human rights and humanitarian organizations to assume their historical responsibilities in protecting civil peace and civilians throughout all Syrian territories and to condemn these violations.

We also reaffirm our commitment to dialogue and a political solution, and our rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism that aim to undermine stability and prevent Syrians from determining their future freely and with dignity."
