Owner of import-export office kidnapped in Tartus

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that a masked armed group of seven people kidnapped a citizen in his fourth decade on Maysaloun Street in the Syrian city of Tartus.

According to the sources, the abductee is known to be the owner of an import and export office near the Tartus port and also works with the United Nations.

The kidnapping was carried out while the victim was returning from work. The group intercepted him in front of his house, beat him three times with the butt of rifles, and then forcibly took him inside his house, before he was abducted and taken to an unknown destination.

As 24 hours passed since his disappearance without any information about his fate, his family launched an urgent appeal to the competent authorities, calling for an immediate investigation and uncovering his fate, in addition to holding those involved accountable and ensuring that such incidents that threaten the security of civilians are not repeated.

Yesterday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the release of Sheikh Saleh Saud, the deputy imam of Ali bin Abi Talib Mosque in Tartus' al-Jami'a neighborhood, 10 days after his abduction.
