The Noon Initiative for Ocalan’s Freedom issued a statement titled “October 9: The Conspiracy Is Not Over, and the Will for Freedom Cannot Be Contained,” in which it rejected policies of isolation and exclusion and called for continued concrete steps toward peace and a democratic society.

The statement read: “On October 9, we commemorate the international conspiracy targeting Leader Abdullah Ocalan, an attempt to silence a voice that had become a cause, isolate ideas that had transcended geographical boundaries, and contain a project that presents democracy, peace, and freedom as a path out of the cycle of conflict and war.”

It added: “They wanted to keep Leader Ocalan a prisoner behind walls, but they could not imprison his ideas. They wanted to isolate his voice, only for it to reach peoples, women, and young people who saw his project as a call to build a new life founded on freedom, justice, and equality.”

The statement emphasized that October 9 is not merely a painful anniversary to commemorate, but also an occasion to expose the reality of an international system that continues to approach the issues of peoples through the lens of interests and deals, while human rights, freedom, and democracy remain hostage to political calculations.

The initiative stressed in its statement: “Women will not stand by as mere spectators to history, nor will they accept having the boundaries of their future drawn by the decisions of dominant powers. Women who have resisted oppression, war, and marginalization are capable of leading the struggle for peace, freedom, and a democratic society.”

It explained that isolating Leader Ocalan cannot resolve a political issue, prisons cannot stop ideas, and isolation cannot erase the will of peoples. The only path toward a stable future is dialogue, a political solution, and recognition of rights—not policies of denial, isolation, and repression.

It continued: “The issues of the Middle East cannot be resolved, nor the shedding of innocent blood brought to an end, without continuing to take serious steps toward peace and a democratic society. Anything else will mean greater instability and larger wars, with peoples, women, and marginalized classes paying the price.”

The initiative declared in its statement: “On this anniversary, we raise our voices loud and clear: No to political and intellectual isolation. No to policies of exclusion and denial. No to turning the causes of peoples into bargaining chips in international conflicts. Yes to freedom, yes to dialogue, yes to a political solution, and yes to a just and lasting peace.”

The statement noted: “At the Noon Initiative, we believe that the struggle for freedom is not a passing act, and that ideas born of the aspirations of peoples cannot be buried behind bars.”

The initiative concluded by reaffirming its commitment to continuing the struggle for freedom and emphasizing the role of women in confronting injustice and building a future based on dignity, equality, and justice. It ended with the words: “Freedom cannot be isolated, ideas cannot be imprisoned, and the will of peoples cannot be defeated.”
