Hundreds of residents of the city of Derik and its surrounding villages demonstrated in rejection of the "constitutional declaration" issued by the Damascus authorities. They affirmed: "No to a constitution that perpetuates marginalization, and yes to a constitution that recognizes the rights of all, especially women. The demonstration set off from Freedom Square and proceeded along the city's main street, heading toward the central market. Participants chanted slogans calling for justice and equality and affirming the unity of the Syrian people, with all its diverse components.

After arriving at the central market in the city of Derik, the demonstrators observed a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs. Marwan Hamo, a member of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), then explained that the announced "constitutional declaration" does not represent the Syrian people, but rather reflects the former regime's mentality of marginalizing other communities.

Syriac Union Party member Sayyida Hanna affirmed their categorical rejection of any constitution that enshrines exclusion and marginalization. She said, "The components of the Syrian people—Syriacs, Kurds, and Arabs—are not merely numbers in political equations, but rather essential partners in building the nation and shaping its future."

Sayyida Hanna emphasized, "No to a constitution that perpetuates marginalization, and yes to a constitution that recognizes the rights of all, especially women. We will continue our struggle until we achieve justice and equality."

The march concluded with the chanting of slogans glorifying the martyrs and denouncing the "declaration of the constitution," emphasizing the unity of the Syrian people and rejecting any attempt to divide the people or marginalize any of its components.
