Newroz celebrations in Rojava conclude with emphasis on unity

Several areas in Rojava witnessed widespread celebrations marking Newroz, characterized by large public attendance and diverse cultural and artistic events. The occasion expressed adherence to identity and aspirations for freedom and legitimate rights, culminating in traditional folk dances and an affirmation of unity.

The Newroz celebrations, held in the cities of Qamishlo, Amuda, Tirbespiyê, Hasakah, and Ad-Derbasiya, concluded with a massive public turnout. The festivities included traditional folk dances and an emphasis on continuing the resistance until legitimate rights are achieved.

From the early morning hours, thousands of residents of Hasakah city headed to the site of the eastern dam, while residents of Derbasiyah, Tel Tamer, and Zerghan went to the village of Gulbistan. Residents of Qamishlo went to the March 12 Martyrs Stadium, and those from Tirbespiyê went to the village of Drijik. Meanwhile, residents of Amuda went to the village of Jaghr Bazar to participate in the Newroz celebrations, which this year were held under the slogan: "Let's make Newroz a celebration of Leader APO's freedom and the democratic unity of the Kurds."

The celebrations included the lighting of the Newroz torch and the reading of a message from Leader Abdullah Ocalan, along with several speeches emphasizing the importance of Kurdish unity, the necessity of the Kurdish people obtaining their legitimate rights in the future Syria and enshrining these rights in the Syrian constitution, as well as stressing the need to unify ranks across Kurdistan during this critical period and to work towards achieving the physical freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan.

The celebrations were also marked by a massive turnout of people wearing traditional Kurdish clothing, along with a wide presence from various communities in Rojava, including Arabs, Syriacs, and Armenians. The events included artistic, cultural, and musical performances, and concluded with traditional folk dances
