Israeli forces continue their movements inside Syrian territory, as local sources reported that units from the Israeli army pushed into the villages of Rasem al-Halabi, al-Mashirfa, and Umm Batna in the Quneitra countryside early this morning.

According to the sources, the forces advanced into areas close to the disengagement lines, in a step seen as a continuation of a series of military movements witnessed in the region since the fall of the Baath regime, amid increasing tension on the ground.

Simultaneously, other forces advanced along the road between Ma’raba and Abidin in the Yarmouk Basin area in the western countryside and set up a checkpoint.

No information has emerged so far about any clashes or human losses, while these movements have raised residents’ concerns about a possible expansion of the incursions or an escalation on the ground in the absence of official clarification from the Syrian transitional government.

These developments come at a time when fears are rising that such movements could turn into a consistent pattern imposing a new reality in the country’s south.
