New Israeli arrests and incursions in southern Syria

Israeli forces continue to escalate their military activity in southern Syria, conducting incursions, arrests, and repeated ground operations in the Quneitra and Daraa countryside. This escalation coincides with overflights by Israeli warplanes and helicopters, amidst ongoing military projects within Syrian territory, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

In the latest developments, an Israeli patrol arrested two young men from al-Basali and Umm al-Luqs in the Quneitra countryside this morning.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also reported that an Israeli force consisting of three military vehicles entered the area near Wadi al-Raqad in the Yarmouk region of western Daraa countryside, while Israeli warplanes flew over the area.

Furthermore, the skies over western Daraa province witnessed intensive Israeli helicopter activity on Tuesday night, amidst continued Israeli military activity in southern Syria.

In a related development, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that Israeli forces, using military vehicles, resumed work on constructing an eight-meter-wide military road, reinforced with earthen berms and trenches. This coincided with the establishment of new observation posts in the Quneitra countryside, as part of the ongoing "Sufa 53" project (an Israeli military road under construction and fortification extending into Syrian territory within the buffer zone in the Quneitra countryside).

According to the Observatory, the project is from the Mount Hermon area to the Yarmouk region in the western Daraa countryside, reflecting continued Israeli activity within Syrian territory and within the buffer zone established by the Undof Disengagement Agreement.
