NE Syria's districts show solidarity with Van Uprising

The councils and municipalities of the city of Derik and its environs( Tirbespiyê, Çil Agha, Amuda, Tal Hamis and Tal Tamr expressed their solidarity with the people of N. Kurdistan, especially the Van Uprising, against the Turkish policy of tyranny.

The Election Commission in the city of Van granted the mayoral mandate to the Justice and Development Party candidate who failed in the local elections, instead of the Equality and Peoples’ Democracy Party candidate who won the March 31 municipal elections in Turkey.

The councils and municipalities of Derik, Tirbespiyê,  Çil Agha, Amuda, Tel Hamis and Tel Tamr issued separate statements, which stated: “We congratulate the Kurdish people and the democrats in Turkey and Bakur Kurdistan on the achievements they gained during the elections despite the policies of oppression, tyranny and obstacles pursued by the fascist authorities in Turkey led by Erdogan.”

They stressed that the victory they achieved is not a victory for the people of Northern Kurdistan only, but rather a victory for all Kurds and free people, and a victory for the thought and philosophy of the democratic nation.

They explained that the election results showed the extent of the failure and decline in the popularity of the tyrannical authority represented by the Justice and Development Party, and that the victory of the Equality and Peoples’ Democracy Party in the elections opened a way for transformation and democratic change and achieving security and stability to create an atmosphere of peace and dialogue to resolve crises.

They noted: "The fascist Justice and Development Party wants to prevent  democracy in Turkey, which was dissipated within it as a result of problems and crises created over the tyrannical practices of the Justice and Development Party."
