NE Syria receives 3,228 returnees, arrivals from Lebanon so far
The North and East Syria region has so far received 3,228 returnees and arrivals from Lebanon. Among them are 12 Lebanese individuals, in addition to the bodies of 7 people from Raqqa and Tabqa who were killed in Israeli airstrikes.
The Crisis Cell, which is responsible for the affairs of returnees from Lebanon, continues to welcome them at the border crossings. The cell has designated two main crossings for receiving the refugees: the "Tabqa Crossing" and the "Al-Tayha Crossing" in Manbij Canton.
The military escalation between Israel and Hezbollah has prompted tens of thousands of Syrians, who either worked in Lebanon or went there during the onset of the Syrian crisis, to return to their country. The latest escalation resulted in the deaths of dozens of Syrians.
On humanitarian grounds, the Autonomous Administration's representation in Lebanon has taken it upon itself to return Syrians who wish to go back to the region. A committee was formed on September 24 to oversee the affairs of Syrian refugees from NE Syria.
Within two days, 2,341 people arrived in the NE Syria region via the Tabqa Crossing, including 846 men, 1,093 women, 402 children, 6 bodies, and 11 Lebanese nationals.
Meanwhile, 887 people arrived through the Al-Tayha Crossing in Manbij, including 1 Lebanese person and 1 body.
The Crisis Cell is setting up tents to accommodate those coming from Lebanon to the NE Syria region, providing services until they reach their intended destinations. For those without shelter or relatives in the region, they will be relocated to camps designated by the Autonomous Administration to house the refugees.
