 Yesterday, the head of the General Secretariat of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, Nadine Maenza, visited the Foreign Relations Department in the city of Qamishlo in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.

She was received by the co-chair of the Foreign Relations Department, Ilham Ahmed, and the deputy co-chair of the department, Gulistan Ali.

The two sides touched upon the general situation in Syria, particularly in the region of North and East Syria, the agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Damascus Authority, the Kurdish-Kurdish understandings, and the difficulties and challenges facing the Autonomous Administration within the current situation in Syria.

Nadine Maenza emphasized the necessity of explaining the experience of Autonomous administration to Western countries; it guarantees the rights of Syrian components and protects religious freedoms. She also stressed the importance of conveying its image to the international community to support it.

Maenza expressed her admiration for the Autonomous Administration's commitment to building a multi-ethnic and multi-religious democracy, where women make up half of the leadership. She emphasized that this inclusivity is vital for promoting peace and stability in the region, demonstrating the administration's dedication to representing and protecting all religious and ethnic communities in the face of adversity.

Maenza praised the historic agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Damascus Authority, stating, "We view it positively in American and Western circles."
