The work of the first ecological conference, organized by the Environmental Body for the NE Syria Region, continues, with the participation of 120 delegates, representatives of the Democratic Autonomous Administration, political parties, and social and civil organizations, in the amphitheater of the University of Rojava in the city of Qamishlo in the Jazera Canton of the NE Syria region.

After standing for a minute of silence, the Deputy co-chair of the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of NE Syria, Hassan Koçer, spoke and touched on the importance of holding this conference.

He explained: “When an attack is launched on nature, society and its morals are targeted, and as we see, the ecosystem is heading towards collapse, so we are constantly focusing on escalating and developing the environment and nature.”

Koçer pointed out: “The world is exploiting nature in order to build its economic system, and thus destroying it. If this continues and escalates, the world is in danger, and all ecological movements and scientists warn of this danger. Therefore, through this conference, the dangers facing nature must be well discussed and resolved.”

Koçer stressed that: “Democratic systems attach utmost importance to protecting nature and the environment, and Leader Abdullah Ocalan also attached great importance to it, so we must return to nature and the essence of humanity. The conference will come out with conclusions to protect the environment, develop basic solutions on Earth, thus developing the ecosystem.”

Then, Berivan Khalil, the co-chair of the Environment Body in the Democratic Autonomous Administration in Shahba and Afrin Canton, read the directives of Leader Abdullah Ocalan on ecology.

In turn, the co-chair of the Environment Body in the AANES, Ibrahim Asaad, focused in his speech on the necessity of protecting nature and the environment, by returning to the principles on which the natural society was based, and he said: “The health in the natural society has made it more environmental and protected, but with urbanization, nation-states sought to control, distort and destroy nature and ecology.”

The conference is scheduled to discusse the first topic, which revolves around (ecology in democratic modernity).
