The incident, which took place in Ain Dhakr in rural West Dar'a, involved the shooting of two members of the government Damascus' Military Intelligence Division. The gunmen, who remain unidentified, fled to an unknown location, as reported by the Syrian Human Rights Observatory.

This act of violence adds to the ongoing insecurity within regions controlled by the government of Damascus, particularly in Dar'a. The area has been a reconciliation point for settlement agreements between local armed groups and government forces, facilitated by Russian support.

Since the start of this year, the SOHR has documented 172 incidents within Dar'a, resulting in 208 fatalities. The majority of the victims were members of the government of Damascus forces.
