The city of Qamishlo hosted an extensive meeting of the Kurdish political movement yesterday, organized by the Kurdish Dialogue Committee in the Kurdish National Unity Parties (PYNK), to discuss developments at both the Syrian and Kurdish levels, under the slogan "Towards Unifying the Kurdish Stance and Ranks to Achieve the National and Democratic Rights of the Kurdish People in Syria." The meeting was attended by Kurdish political forces, elites, and organizations, as well as parties not affiliated with the Kurdish National Unity Parties, activists, and representatives from women's, community, religious, cultural, and artistic sectors, writers, and independents.

In this context, the Secretary of the Kurdish Democratic Unity Party (Yekiti), Muhayidin Sheikh Ali, touched on the importance of the meeting, saying: "Holding such extensive meetings is important in the current sensitive new phase for Syria, firstly to enrich the discussion and to listen to what the Kurdish people want, what they want from each other, and what they want from others. Today, there is a new government and authority in the Syrian capital, Damascus, headed by Ahmad al-Shara, and it is a transitional phase."

Muhayidin Sheikh Ali noted that the Kurds in Syria are part of the Syrian society, so it is essential to engage in extensive and open discussions and listen to each other to discuss the shape of their policy.

Sheikh Ali emphasized the necessity of "Kurdish-Kurdish dialogue, Kurdish-Arab dialogue, and Syrian-Syrian dialogue in Syria to negotiate such dialogues as a need within the diverse Syrian society."

Sheikh Ali explained that disagreements and contradictions will always exist. What is required from all parties and political factions is to sit together, discuss, and search for common ground. These commonalities should be drafted on a preliminary paper, agreed upon, and signed.

He continued: "In my opinion, there are many commonalities. The first main commonality is the possibility of preserving and protecting the existence of the Kurdish identity in Syria. The second commonality lies in the serious and ongoing risks and concerns against the existence and identity of the Kurdish people in northern and eastern Syria, whether in Kobani or elsewhere. In light of these ongoing concerns, we should have measures in place."

The Secretary of the Kurdish Democratic Unity Party (Yekiti), Muhayidin Sheikh Ali, called on all Kurdish political parties, nationalists, intellectuals, and writers to "sit together and listen to each other, to put our hands together, this is a historical right and duty."
