Mothers of Peace protest in front of British Embassy in Turkey

Militias of Syria’s Interim Government, supported by the Turkish state, continue to launch attacks on Rojava despite a ceasefire agreement. In response and in condemnation of these attacks, the Mothers of Peace in Istanbul issued a statement in support of Rojava in the Beyoğlu district of Turkey.

The statement was joined by the Mothers of Peace, activists from the Transitional Justice Movement, representatives from political parties and social institutions, and a large number of citizens. During the protest, the Mothers of Peace chanted slogans such as "Long live the Rojava resistance" and "Long live women’s freedom."

The Mothers of Peace intended to lay a wreath of flowers at the embassy entrance, but they were attacked by police. Despite this, they successfully placed the wreath and issued their statement, emphasizing their demand for an immediate halt to the attacks and the establishment of peace in the region.

Speaking at the event, Mother of Peace Sabiha Bozan said: "We are peacebuilders, and we do not want war. We came to the British Embassy, but they attacked us. We wanted to convey a message of peace, but they prevented us. Still, we will continue moving forward."

Another Mother of Peace, Sultan Bozkurt, spoke, condemning ISIS attacks on the region and adding: "Trump is a blood trader, and so is England. They should lift their hands off the Kurdish people.
