A young man lost his life and his brother was injured yesterday when a landmine exploded in the occupied countryside of Tal Abyad in Northern Syria.

A local source from the occupied town of Suluk reported that the young man, Muhannad Hassan al-Omar, died, while his brother Saleh was injured to varying degrees, as a result of a landmine explosion while they were on their way to their farmland near the village of al-Za'zou, located 5 kilometers east of Suluk.

The source explained that the area where the explosion occurred is known as a corridor for human smuggling and is the subject of a dispute between mercenary groups affiliated with the Turkish occupation, which are fighting for control of it.

It is noteworthy that the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries, the "National Army," occupied the city of Tal Abyad on October 9, 2019, following an occupation attack. Since then, the region has witnessed widespread security chaos, systematic killings and looting, as well as the spread of smuggling and human trafficking networks.
