The Al-Wisal (Reachout) Organization began mine-clearance operations on Sunday morning to clear the Tal al-Ward–Aniq al-Hawa road, in preparation for reopening it to facilitate the return of displaced residents to villages in the western countryside of Zirkan and the eastern countryside of Serê Kaniyê.

The Tal al-Ward–Aniq al-Hawa road lies along the Tell Tamer–Zirkan route and is considered a vital access road to villages west of Zirkan, as well as villages east of Serê Kaniyê. Its clearance is part of ongoing efforts to clear and reopen major roads to facilitate the return of displaced residents to their villages.

The operations director of the Reachout Organization confirmed that the road is not safe for residents to travel on, warning of the danger posed by mines and their widespread distribution along the road and on both sides.

The move follows a meeting held on Saturday, attended by Mahmoud Khalil (Siyamand Afrin), a commander in the Internal Security Forces, the Eastern Sector Mine Action Centre, representatives of the Internal Security Forces in Serê Kaniyê, and a commander from the 60th Division. The meeting aimed to accelerate efforts to clear and reopen major roads and facilitate the return of displaced residents to their areas and villages.
