Member of Aleppo Cultural Forum: siege will not break people’s will

A member of the Aleppo Cultural Forum found that the siege imposed by the Damascus government on the people of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods deepens their crises and aims to place them in a spiral of problems and obstacles, stressing that this policy will not help in achieving their goal of subjecting the people to their denial of the option of surrender and their choice of resistance as a path.

The Damascus government is still imposing a siege on the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh, without paying attention to the suffering of the people and the problems and obstacles they are exposed to as a result of its policy.

External and internal siege

Regarding the reasons for the Damascus government imposing the siege on the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods and Al-Shahba district, ANHA agency conducted an interview with a member of the Aleppo Cultural Forum, Muhammad Hussein, in which he explained that the Syrian people were more harmed by the Caesar Law imposed on Syria, which is supposed to be a punishment for the Damascus government, and he said: “An external siege.” On top of that, the Damascus government imposes another siege on the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods.”

In the context of his speech, Muhammad Hussein blamed the Damascus government for what the people are exposed to as a result of their lack of medicines and necessities of life, including heating. He said: “As if we are not part of Syria, and as if we are strangers. The Damascus government is deliberately deepening the crises and suffering of the people of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, mixing all issues together, ignoring the repercussions of its policy."

The siege will not affect us

Muhammad Hussein mocked the positions of the Damascus government regarding the attacks targeting the territory of Syria, in reference to NE,Syria, saying: “It is dedicated to imposing the siege on the people, but it is not concerned with the violation and attack on the territory of Syria by the Turkish occupation state.”

Muhammad Hussein stressed that the people who confront brutal attacks willingly will not submit to soft policies such as the siege. He said: “The siege is primarily a psychological and logistical war aimed at breaking the will of a people, but those who spent their lives resisting will not falter and surrender easily.”
