Marking 27 years since the start of the international conspiracy against Leader Abdullah Ocalan, PYD and Kongra Star held meetings across Lebanon to shed light on the plot that began on October 9, 1998.

The meetings took place in several areas, including the Bekaa Valley, southern Lebanon, and Beirut, and concluded with a joint statement issued by the PYD and Kongra Star, read by the spokesperson of the PYD Council, Khalid Khalid.

The statement read: "On October 9, 1998, one of the most dangerous international conspiracies in contemporary Middle Eastern history began, targeting a central figure and a leader of millions of people yearning for freedom: Leader Abdullah Ocalan, the universal symbol of the struggle for democracy, social justice, and the freedom of peoples."

It emphasized that the events of that day were not merely an attack on Leader Ocalan as an individual, but a comprehensive assault on the project of freedom and democracy he represented through his ideas and political philosophy. These ideas laid the foundations for a lasting solution to the Kurdish issue and offered a new model of liberation that transcends narrow national borders, promoting the brotherhood of peoples and coexistence.

The statement highlighted that the international conspiracy began by forcing Leader Ocalan to leave Syria under regional and international pressure from forces opposed to any liberation project emerging in the heart of the Middle East. It said: "Leader Ocalan moved between several countries seeking a peaceful political solution, but the response was further conspiracy and collusion among international intelligence agencies, culminating in his unlawful abduction on February 15, 1999, after being lured to Kenya and then handed over to the Turkish state in blatant violation of international norms and laws."

The statement continued: "Today, more than two decades later, we affirm that the ideas carried by Leader Ocalan have not been defeated. They have instead become a guiding flame illuminating the paths of freedom in Rojava, Bashur, Bakur, and Rojhelat Kurdistan, and across the Middle East. His resistance in Imrali Prison has become a school of struggle and perseverance, from which the spark of peoples’ and communities’ revolutions against fascism and tyranny has ignited."

The statement called on international powers to review their role in the conspiracy and acknowledge the truth, adding: "We reaffirm our just and legitimate demand for the freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, who represents the leading force to achieve peace in Turkey and the entire region."
