Today, the Media Department in the North and East Syria region issued a written statement to the public opinion, published on its official website, on the importance of conveying the truth.

The beginning of the statement read: "In light of the great challenges facing Syria since the outbreak of the Syrian revolution in March 2011, through the war against ISIS terrorism, and up to the political and social changes witnessed by the country, the media played a vital and pivotal role in conveying the truth and showing it to the world. However, this historical role was subjected to attempts to distort it by some parties, through media outlets seeking to support foreign agendas hostile to the Syrian people and their revolution."

It continued, "Some paid content creators on social media, who lack integrity, are also trying to distort the facts through their media discourse, in favor of parties seeking to achieve their own goals in Syria

In this context, the Media Department in North and East Syria affirms its great appreciation for the role of media professionals and media outlets in conveying the truth and revealing the secrets of events, stressing that it will take a firm stance towards media professionals and media outlets that adopt policies of incitement and division, and contribute to spread strife and sectarianism.

The Media Department also called on all media professionals and media outlets to avoid being drawn into the schemes and tricks being hatched against the Syrian people, and to remain neutral and show a sense of national responsibility in their work. The department also rejected "all forms of language of threats, treason and intimidation, and warned that some weak-willed people seek to undermine the unity of the Syrian people with all its components, in the service of foreign agendas."

In conclusion, it stressed that "decisive decisions will be taken against media professionals and media outlets who follow these policies in accordance with the media law in the region of North and East Syria, because Syria today is in dire need of us all to be one hand to build a unified and democratic homeland."
