Massive fire breaks out in rural Qardaha

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported the outbreak of a large fire in Baqna village in the Qardaha countryside, near the city of Latakia. Residents fear that the fire could expand further, threatening homes and private property.

The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time amid concerns and accusations that some of these fires may have been deliberately set by unidentified parties.

On August 24, similar fires broke out in the western Hama countryside areas of Deir Shamil and Shatha. Local residents called for public participation to help extinguish the fires after strong winds caused the flames to spread rapidly. Cases of smoke inhalation were reported among residents, while firefighting efforts were hindered by delayed emergency response, forcing locals to combat the fires with makeshift equipment.

Meanwhile, firefighting teams in the Latakia countryside are working to contain multiple fire points in the Jabal al-Turkman area. Efforts continue to encircle the flames and prevent their spread to new locations, alongside cooling operations on the areas already controlled to reduce the risk of re-ignition.
