KOBANI

Women from the city of Kobani and its surrounding countryside held a demonstration on March 8th, the International Women's Day, starting from the Free Women's Square under the slogan, "Women protect Rojava Revolution."

The women, dressed in Kurdish attire, continuously chanted slogans, "Women, life, freedom," "Resistance is life," "Long live the Women's Protection Units' (YPJ) resistance," and "Long live the Rojava resistance."

Upon reaching the Martyr Agid Square, the march transformed into a public gathering, where Judi Temi; the member of the Kongra Star Council in Kobani city, read the message sent by leader Abdullah Ocalan on the occasion of March 8th.

On behalf of the women's administrative movements in the city of Kobani, Roken Ahmed said, "We salute March 8th and congratulate the leader Abdullah Ocalan and all the women of the world, especially the women of Rojava, who are resisting and fighting for freedom. March 8th is the day of resistance and struggle against injustice and tyranny; thanks to this resistance, we will triumph, and achieve justice, equality, and freedom. Our presence here today is thanks to the martyrs' sacrifices."

Roken Ahmed called for the release of captives held by the Syrian Interim Government who were captured following the attacks on the region on January 17. She stressed the need to escalate the struggle, stating, "Women's resistance in various fields, and their pursuit of true freedom and democracy, has reached its peak. However, the war and violations against them have not yet ended. This necessitates strengthening the feminist struggle to stop the wars and violations committed against women."

She also pointed out the need for women to organize themselves more effectively to protect the gains of the revolution. At the same time, she called on women everywhere to raise their voices against wars and conflicts targeting people and women, and to work to protect themselves from them.

For her part, Suzdar Ahmed, speaking on behalf of the detainees' families, demanded their release as soon as possible.

The gathering concluded with holding theatrical performances, poetry readings, and revolutionary songs.
