Mass events in 4 cities to commemorate International Women’s Day tomorrow

Al-Hasakah, Qamishlo, Derik, and Kobani will host marches and public gatherings tomorrow to celebrate International Women’s Day (March 8). Four cities in Rojava are preparing to organize marches and public gatherings tomorrow to mark International Women’s Day (March 8), with wide participation from women and local residents. The events are organized by the Kongra Star.

The events are organized under this year’s slogan: “With the Philosophy of Women: Life, Freedom, We Protect the Gains of the Women’s Revolution”. The activities aim to emphasize women’s societal role, showcase their struggle for rights, freedom, and equality, and defend the gains Syrian women have achieved over the past years.

Qamishlo

In Qamishlo, a public event will take place at Haitham Kajou Stadium at 11:00 AM, with wide participation from women and residents of Çil Agha, Girkê Legê, Tirbespiye and Tal Brak. The program will include speeches and activities highlighting the importance of International Women’s Day.

Kobani

In Kobani, the event will begin with a large march at 11:00 AM starting from Free Women’s Square and proceeding to Martyr Akid Square, where it will transition into a public gathering featuring speeches and symbolic activities emphasizing women’s role in social struggle.

Derik 

In Derik, the activities will be held at the Syrian Revolutionary Youth Movement Center at 8:00 AM, with expected participation from numerous women and youth. The program will include cultural activities and speeches addressing women’s issues and their societal role.

Al-Hasakah

Al-Hasakah will host a public protest at the municipal stadium at 11:00 AM, with participation from residents and women from Al-Darbasiyah, Zirghan, and Tal Tamr, as well as residents of Washu Kani and Serê Kani camps. The event will feature speeches and several artistic performances.

These activities are part of the International Women’s Day celebrations on March 8, a global occasion to spotlight women’s issues, rights, and contributions to building communities.
