The Council of Martyrs’ Families in Hasakah, Jazira Canton, issued a statement to the public today, Monday, in front of the council’s building, demanding the physical freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, with dozens of martyrs’ relatives participating.

The statement was read in Kurdish by Rojda Ahmad, an administrator at the Khabur Center for Culture and Art, and in Arabic by Ahmad Nasser al-Hariss, a member of the Council of Martyrs’ Families.

At the outset, the statement commemorated the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for freedom and a free life, and conveyed a message of peace to Leader Abdullah Ocalan, who has been resisting in Imrali Prison for 26 years for the rights of the Kurdish people and all peoples aspiring for freedom.

The statement declared that the families of martyrs in Hasakah join their voices with the thousands calling for the physical freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan.

It added: “We in the Council of Martyrs’ Families are indebted to the leader, his thought, and his philosophy, and we are ready to give everything we have in order to apply his principles and spread the philosophy of free life and the foundations of the democratic nation. The leader unified the ranks against dictatorial regimes, and it is incumbent upon us as a people to unite and raise our voices high to demand his right to physical freedom.”

The statement called for intensifying the struggle in all parts of Kurdistan, the Middle East, and the world in order to achieve the leader’s physical freedom and establish peace, noting that after the historic call for “peace and the democratic society” that the leader issued on February 27, the opportunity for achieving peace has become greater. It added: “But its success requires the Turkish side’s commitment, for there can be no peace without the freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan.”

In conclusion, the statement affirmed that the leader’s disciples are working every minute to achieve his freedom and the freedom of all peoples aspiring to liberation, and that they are awaiting the near meeting with the leader.

The statement ended with chants of: “No life without the leader” and “Martyrs are immortal.”
