“Martyr Ziad Halab” Chess Championship kicks off in Tel Tamr 

The tournament opened today in Tel Tamer, organized by the Youth of Tel Tamr in cooperation with the Center for Culture and Arts, featuring 14 male and female players from different age groups at the center’s headquarters in the city.

The first day of the championship saw a competitive atmosphere, as participants played four rounds under the Swiss system, with each round lasting 15 minutes. Scores were calculated and an initial ranking of players was established, with attendance from chess enthusiasts who followed the matches.

The tournament aims to commemorate the martyr Ziad Halab, while also revitalizing cultural and sporting activity in the region and encouraging young people to develop skills in thinking, analysis, and planning through chess.

The competition is scheduled to continue tomorrow with the remaining rounds, concluding with the crowning of the top three winners and honoring all participants.

This event is part of a series of activities organized by the Tel Tamr Youth to strengthen community participation, develop cognitive skills among young people, and promote a culture of positive competition.
