Martyr Khalil Dagh: If I had not recognized Guerrilla, I wouldn't have made a movie

The martyr, cinematic director and journalist Khalil Dagh explained in his diaries about his beginnings in the cinema: “It did not cross to my mind that I had prepared a movie ... I did not dream of that … And if I did not go to the mountains, and joined the Guerilla , even if I did not know the dear Kurdish people, I did not witness their lives, when I made a movie either, when I was able to do so, the cinema is my mountain journey that started filming."

April 1 marks the 16th anniversary of the martyrdom of the film director, Khalil Dagh, where Dagh was martyred on April 1, 2008 in an ambush set by the Turkish occupation army, in the Besta area in the Northern Kurdistan Boutan.

"Comrade Khalil worked hard and effort for 13 years in mountain peaks with a lot of energy, positivity and endless love, and the comrade left a great legacy behind him, and comrade Khalil was a writer, photographer, cinematic, documentary, fighter, and companion of the leader Ocalan and a friend of the mountains with these phrases, the martyrs committee, Khalil Dagh, recalled in one of its data.

Brief about his life:

He was born in Germany in 1973, and his father descended from the Turkish city of Izmir and his mother from the city of Agri in Northern Kurdistan, spent his primary years between Germany and Izmir, and studied the preparatory and secondary levels in a private school in Izmir, then moved to Europe and worked in various fields, and attended for a short period of time evening lessons in the field of photography.

He met the Kurdish liberation movement during the three years he spent in Germany.

He participated in the preparations for the launch of the "Med TV" satellite channel, which is the first Kurdish stations in 1994, and headed to the Middle East on the first of April 1995, to conduct an interview with Leader Abdullah Ocalan as an assistant to a German photographer, to get to know the Popular Defense Forces (Guerrilla) during the filming of scenes in the central school for the PKK.

After this interview, the martyr Khalil said: "It was the first important work for me," and it was decided to stay in the region and progress more, and after this decision, he joined the Kurdish liberation movement to fight with the Kurdish liberation movement fighters in the Kurdistan Mountains Guerrilla, on the one hand, and engage in cinematic work from on the other hand.

Khalil Dagh talks in his diaries about his beginnings in the cinema, saying: “It never occurred to me that I had prepared a movie ... I did not dream of that .. and if I did not go to the mountains, and joined the Guerilla, even if I did not know the dear Kurdish people, and I did not witness on their lives, when I also made a movie, when I was able to do so, the cinema is my journey in the mountains that started filming. "

The martyr Khalil Dagh has several cinematic products that were suspended in the emotional memory of the Kurdish people, such as (Beritan), (Eina Beshani) and (Hasbi Sarkhouche), the wild horse.
