Man killed, his wife injured in occupied Afrin countryside

According to the Afrin – Syria Human Rights Organization, the victim, Ibrahim Ahmad Yassin from the “Tottal” family, was killed, and his wife, Manal Mahmoud, was severely injured after three gunmen affiliated with Turkish-backed mercenaries broke into their home at dawn on Thursday, November 13, in the village of Maryamin, part of Sharran district in the occupied Afrin countryside.

The organization stated that the gunmen stormed the house at around three in the morning, shooting first at Manal Mahmoud and then at her husband, Ibrahim Yassin, before tying up their only child and fleeing.

Ibrahim Yassin died instantly from his injuries, while his wife was taken to al-Hakim Hospital and then transferred to Azaz Hospital, where she remains in intensive care due to the severity of her condition.

Turkish-backed mercenaries continue to commit crimes against civilians in occupied Afrin, including killings, abductions, and torture, targeting all segments of the population, including women and the elderly. They also impose levies and ransom payments, while enforcing a tight blockade that prevents residents from selling their crops except through the mercenaries. This comes amid ongoing high living costs that have exhausted the population, further tightening the noose on those who remain and pushing them to leave the area by force, while preventing displaced people from returning to their homes.
